Lima, la Gris is my first analog photography series, shaped by constraint and observation. Through a single lens, I approach Lima as an observer, seeking realism and naturalism in its streets, people, and overlooked moments.
Lima, la Gris is my first body of work as an artistic photographer and my first sustained engagement with analog photography. Working with film became a process of learning through constraint and discovery—accepting pacing, limitation, and uncertainty as essential parts of seeing.
I approached the project from the position of an observer, searching for realism and naturalism rather than constructed images. The intention was not to force composition or subject, but to let scenes exist as they were found—allowing light, space, and chance to dictate the photograph. To reinforce this discipline, I chose to work with a single 50 mm lens, embracing its limitations as a way to sharpen attention and remain faithful to the act of looking.
For this initial project, I turned to the city where I was born. Lima appears here through its streets, its people, and their interactions—spaces and moments often taken for granted, yet quietly shaping the city’s identity.
